All About Me
I currently teach 7th & 8th grade math at Worthington Hooker School. I have taught at Hooker since 2005. In addition to teaching, I also help to coach our after-school MathCounts team, which came in second place in New Haven last year! I also act as the adviser for the student council.
Before I became a teacher, I had an extensive career in the software industry. In August of 1989 I founded Willow Solutions to build custom software applications based on spreadsheets using real-time market data, primarily for financial traders. I built the company into a 12 person firm with over 1.5 million dollars in revenue, managing all aspects of business, from Marketing & Sales to Financial Management, Technology, Software Development and Human Resources. I continued as President of Willow Solutions for 17 years.
During my time at Willow, I also spent a considerable amount of time developing software and training people. As an extension of this work, I co-authored a book, Mastering Excel 2000. This book was published by Sybex, Inc, one of the premier publishers of software guides. Mastering Excel 2000 has sold over 75,000 copies worldwide.
